Information we collect

This section describes how we lawfully collect and use your personal data. “Personal data” means any information which relates to an identifiable, living individual. It does not include anonymous data which cannot be linked to an identifiable person.

We will only use your personal information when the law allows us to. The law says that we must identify a lawful basis for each use of your personal data. We rely on a number of lawful bases, including:

  • Where we have obtained freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous consent from you to use your personal information in certain ways.
  • Where we need to use your personal data in order to perform a contract that you have entered into with us.
  • Where we need to comply with a legal obligation.
  • Where the processing of your personal data is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the Combined Authority, we have set out the purposes for which we use each category of your personal data and the lawful bases which are relevant to those purposes.

What information do we hold about you, and how do we use it?

We collect, store and use some or all of the following categories of personal information about you:

Contact details and communication information

Where you contact us using the contact forms or other details on our website, we may collect your name, email address, address, telephone number, job title and organisation and the content of your communications or enquiries.

We use this information to communicate with you, including responding to your questions and enquiries, providing information about our services, our website and our relationship with you, dealing with any complaints that you may have and providing information about changes to our business, policies or services.

Our lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in building our relationship and communicating with you.

Subscription details

Where you subscribe to our NW Net Zero Hub Newsletter, we may collect your name, email address and subscription preferences.

We use this information to send you our newsletters and other news and information about our events and services. We will only send you information about the Hub in accordance with the preferences that you choose when you subscribe.

Our lawful basis for this processing is your consent, as you have specifically requested to receive updates from us. If you no longer wish to receive these updates from us, you can change your preferences or unsubscribe at any time by using the links in any emails we send to you.

Business relationship management

Where you or your organisation engages with us, our partners and affiliates (including with our programme partners the North West LEP areas and Combined Authorities, and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero [DESNZ]) we may collect your name, contact details (including email and postal addresses and telephone numbers) and information about your relationship and history with us and our network. We may collect this information directly from you, or it may be provided to us by one of our partners or affiliates when you correspond with them.

We, and our partners and affiliates, use this information to manage business relationships within our network and to facilitate and promote networking and communication between the businesses that engage with our network.  This processing is necessary in the performance of the Combined Authority’s official function to provide this programme.

Verifying your identity

We may use the information that we hold about you where it is necessary for us to do so in order to meet our legal obligations or to detect and prevent fraud, money-laundering and other crimes.

Information we collect about you from other sources

We may collect information about you from other sources. This may include the following:

Sometimes you will have given your consent for other websites, services or third parties to provide information to us. This could include information we receive about you if you use any of the other websites that we operate or the other services that we provide in which case we will have informed you when we collected that data if we intend to share those data internally and combine it with data collected on this site.
